Kim is an acoustic songstress and an aspiring songwriter. Her soothing finger picking and ethereal voice capture the attention of passers-by.
Inspired by female vocalists like Sarah McLachlan, Colbie Caillat, Adele, Patty Griffin and Regina Spektor, Kim has brought her melodious and warm voice from her hometown of Taipei to the cafes and streets of Canberra. Playing both ukulele and guitar, Kim is able to switch between music genres to adopt the mood of her audience.
Since developing a passion for music at an early age, Kim has shared her voice everywhere from intimate bookshops to national television. In 2009 Kim gained national attention in Taiwan when appearing on one episode of a talent show. From 2007 to 2009 Kim worked with well-known YouTube musicians such as Kris Shred, Doctor Castille, Clint Hollison and Leroy Sanchez. Their collaborations gained global attention in the early YouTube music community. Kim still has a faithful following on YouTube for her cover songs.
Kim settled in Canberra and rediscovered her love of music in 2015. In 2016 Kim bought a ukulele to accompany her singing and started her solo musical journey on the streets and in markets. She has collaborated with several local Canberra artists and played at various venues and big events in Canberra, major Australian cities, and overseas when she’s travelling. The most recent big events she played at were Enlighten Night Noodle Markets and Floriade 2018.
In 2019, Kim is playing at the National Folk Festival as one of the ACT featured artists, she will be sharing her original songs that speak from her lived experiences as a young adult, a partner, a daughter, a sister, a friend and an insecure soul. She is combining these stories with a mixture of folk, pop, jazz and blues. Her genuine lyrics bring both tears and smiles to her audience.
